Kamphaeng Saen Roselle
The Tropical Vegetable Research Center has developed the Kamphaeng Saen roselle variety through hybridization between the Long Calyx variety and the Sudan variety, resulting in stable lines such as the Jumbo and Giant groups of roselle. The Kamphaeng Saen Giant roselle variety produces larger calyces and provides higher fresh yield, approximately 1,500–2,000 kg per rai. Anthocyanin content varies according to calyx color, with the Kamphaeng Saen Giant Purple variety exhibiting the highest anthocyanin content. Roselle calyces can be harvested approximately 30 days after flower drop and can be utilized for processing into beverages, jam, wine, and other products.
