Durian Insect Pests

Insect pest and diseases are critical factors contributing to yield losses in durian across all developmental stages. The primary insect pests include various sap-sucking insects and lepidopteran larvae which cause direct damage to flowers, leaves, and developing fruits. The severity of pest outbreaks varies depending on geographic location, climate, and the physiological stage of durian. Effective management requires consistent orchard maintenance, judicious use of chemical pesticides, integrated with biopesticides and mechanical methods. Consequently, the adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is recognized as the most viable strategy to minimize yield loss and enhancing the long-term sustainability of durian production.
