Durian Breeding in Saline Soil

The Kamphaeng Saen durian breeding project by Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, aims to develop a durian variety that can grow effectively perform well in the Kamphaeng Saen environment, which has saline soil, low humidity, and hot weather. Over 100 hybrid durian trees are cultivated in Kamphaeng Saen for the project. Furthermore, the project promotes learning and research among the professors, students, and farmers, focusing on soil amendment to enhance durian’s growth by reducing salinity and adding organic matter. The project is in the experimental result collection stage for future assessment.
