Red Snapper Culture

Red snapper (Lutjanus argentimaculatus) is a commercially viable sea fish with a high demand in Southeast Asia. However, the number of red snappers from natural sources is declining due to overfishing, resulting in a scarcity of the fish species. Red snapper culture in Thailand is ineffective due to the lack of suitable technology and dependence on the natural breeds. Klongwan Fisheries Research Station at Kasetsart University, conducts research and development of integrated aquaculture technology, covering all stages from broodstock rearing, breeding, to larval nursing, in order to increase survival rates and improve production efficiency. The objective is to develop knowledge and innovation for academic, economic, and societal benefits to support the career, increase income, and decrease dependence on natural fishery resources sustainably.
