At present, the macadamia nut cracking process is normally conducted by a human workforce with good skills and is time-consuming. This manual process uses simple blade-installed equipment to crack the nut one by one. For 1 kilogram of the nuts to crack, it requires 2-3 hours to finish. This delays the product processing time. Phetchabun Research Station has developed the macadamia nut cracker to be used efficiently for macadamia nut processing. The macadamia nuts with hard shells will be placed at the top part of the cracking machine. The nuts will fall inside the machine that has a rotating plate to let the nuts fall to hit a set of blades to crack the hard shell wide open. The hard shells and the kernels will be separated. They will fall onto a receiving tray located outside the cracking machine and will be processed further. Our machine could be useful for community enterprises and farmers. This will lead to income and a new occupation.
